Dr. Shannon Moon is an autodidact that is passionately interested in  Affective Computing, Cognitive Psychology, Augmented Reality, Flight, Soaring,  Virtual Reality, Simulation, Flight Training,  Human-Computer Interaction, and Aeronautical Sciences.

She is a licensed Commercial Pilot (Instrument, Airplane Single Engine Land, Single Engine Sea, Multi-Engine Land, and Glider/Sailplane), is a H2 rated Hanglider pilot, and holds multiple Certified Flight Instructor ratings (Flight Instructor Airplane, Flight Instructor Glider). She holds Certified Ground Instructor ratings (Advanced & Instrument), and also has a Remote Pilot license for sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft Systems).

Shannon is a published researcher. She holds a doctoral degree, in Computer Science, and was a Principal Engineer at the Walt Disney Company, where she worked in social technology.  She holds a BSSE (Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering).  Shannon is a Harvard alumna, having earned a  Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University, with a concentration in Information Management Systems. She holds a number of software development industry certifications, (ITIL, PM, MCSD, MCSE, SCJP, etc.) .

Dr. Shan frequently volunteers as a SME (subject matter expert) for undergraduate and graduate student projects in simulation, wearable tech, aviation, and affective computing.
