Dr. Shannon Moon is an autodidact that is passionately interested in  Affective Computing, Cognitive Psychology, Augmented Reality, Flight, Soaring,  Virtual Reality, Simulation, Flight Training,  Human-Computer Interaction, and Aeronautical Sciences.

She is a licensed Commercial Pilot (Instrument, Airplane Single Engine Land, Single Engine Sea, Multi-Engine Land, and Glider/Sailplane), is a H2 rated Hanglider pilot, and holds multiple Certified Flight Instructor ratings (Flight Instructor Airplane, Flight Instructor Glider, Flight Instructor Instrument, and Multi-Engine Instructor). She holds Certified Ground Instructor ratings (Advanced & Instrument), and also has a Remote Pilot license for sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft Systems).

Shannon is a published researcher. She holds a doctoral degree, in Computer Science, and was a Principal Engineer at the Walt Disney Company, where she worked in social technology.  She holds a BSSE (Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering).  Shannon is a Harvard alumna, having earned a  Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University, with a concentration in Information Management Systems. She holds a number of software development industry certifications, (ITIL, PM, MCSD, MCSE, SCJP, etc.) .

Dr. Shan frequently volunteers as a SME (subject matter expert) for undergraduate and graduate student projects in simulation, wearable tech, aviation, and affective computing.

Shannon remains an active flight instructor, and has flow turboprops (cargo) and turbine jets (charter) for several years.
